Cannabis Tips

How much medical cannabis should I use?

START LOW AND TAKE IT SLOW!

It’s important to start with a low dose of cannabis, especially if you are not familiar with particular medicines and don’t know the appropriate dosage needed to achieve the desired effect.

Whether you’re a first-time patient or trying a new product or method of consumption, it’s important to start with a low dosage and to wait a significant amount of time for the effects to take hold. Do not increase or repeat the dosage until you know the actual impact of the initial dosage.

Our Patient Advisors will work with you to determine the best initial dosage and to adjust it as need be once you know how your body will react.

It’s important to remember the effects may vary from person to person and from product to product.

The method of consumption also will impact the overall effect of the medicine. For instance, when smoking or vaporizing, the effects will be felt immediately. When consuming edibles, capsules and tinctures, it may take longer to feel the effects as the body metabolizes the medicine.

The concentration of the products also will impact the effects. For example, concentrates such as wax or shatter have a higher THC concentration, which will result in stronger, more pronounced and longer-lasting effects.

How and where should I store medical cannabis?

Cannabis should be kept in airtight containers in cool, dry locations out of the reach of children and away from pets. Direct sunlight, moisture and extreme temperatures can affect the quality and effectiveness of your medicine.

Ideally, store your medicine in a covered glass container with air-tight seals. (Do not use tobacco humidors that can release oils that are absorbed into cannabis flower.)

Store flower separate from other cannabis products and paraphernalia that could impact the smell and taste of your medicine.

IMPORTANT: Keep cannabis and other medicine away from children and pets at all times!
